Help Your Name Stick Around

If you want return on your marketing dollar, find an item that your customer will keep around so that your name is seen time and again.  Think of items you use on a daily basis and most likely your customers will do the same.  How many times do you make yourself a note?  If it’s not on an electronic device, it’s probably on a sticky note somewhere.  Great idea to hand out is sticky notes with your name imprinted on each page.  Your message is seen time and again.  Who knows how many notes your customers will send to their customers using your sticky note.  The kids’ teachers, the milkman, the babysitter…wherever they write and leave a note, there is your advertising.  If you want to hand out something that is useful and has your logo on the outside, another idea is a sticky pad book.  Logo is on the outside cover.   Inside are 2 sizes of sticky notes and 5 different colored sticky flags.  Very useful, each time the user picks up the book they will see your logo.  Make a great impression and help your name stick in someone’s mind. Trade Show Handouts for 2010

Time to start thinking about what you will hand out at your trade show booth in 2010.  You want something people will keep, use and remember where they got it.  Pens are very popular items to hand out.  They come in all kinds of price points so there’s a pen for everyone’s budget.  A nice pen that someone uses every day can make a great marketing tool at a trade show or networking event.  Industry experts say that the average pen has 7 owners.  People pick a pen up here, leave it as they sign a receipt or write a note, the next person picks it up and does the same and so on.  The person you originally handed it to may not be the eventual one who keeps it so make sure your contact information is on the pen as well as what you do if it’s not obvious from the name.  Good pens make great silent marketing partners. Time and again people report they got referrals from someone saying, “I have a pen and here’s the name of a VPS Hosting, servers, etc.”   Lastly, why wait until just before the trade show or event, order your items today and you will be set when the event rolls around.

Salute a Hero

We all know someone who could use some kudos.  That co-worker, friend, neighbor who goes out of their way to make a difference in others’ lives.  We can say thank you, we can try to repay them, but sometimes the little ways we accept that help is thanks enough.  If you are like most people, you want to find a way to show your gratitude.  Why not start a thank you campaign in your community?  One little way to show appreciate is to find people quietly going about their lives and saluting them in small but meaningful ways.  Here’s an idea, the Everyday Hero pin.  Small, classy looking, sure to get your message across.  For this pin and other ideas on how to say thanks, contact cheryl@thankem.com

Candy might be dandy, but could be more interesting~

Do you do booths at tradeshows?  Recently this writer attended a tradeshow in beautiful Snowmass, Colorado.  Great conference sponsors, wonderful array of ideas.  Some gave out wrapped candy, off the shelf, nothing special or attached to it.  Most didn’t have a dish or bowl, just a pile quickly poured out on the tablecloth in their booth.  Yes, people stopped by to pick up a piece.  What is the point?  To capture passerbys’ interest, a fun bowl, hat, box, something that shows you put a little thought into it could have been the candy dish.  Candy is great, wrapped it is sanitary, but when unaccompanied by a card, slogan or even a slip of paper, no one remembers where they got that chocolate kiss or peppermint candy.   Using shaped keychains, shaped chocolates, mints, any imprinted item so that the recipient remembers your name or service is the “key”.  A couple of safety related vendors handed out seasonal items.  One had imprinted sunscreen packets, another had hand sanitizer with their name printed.  For tradeshow success, keep in mind the reason you are there…to help attendees remember YOU when they need your service or business.  Promotional products are a part of your tradeshow success plan.  Need items to promote yourself-contact us.  cheryl@thankem.com

Spring is just around the corner

Spring and gardening are just around the corner.  If you are doing a tradeshow booth this spring, or want to grow your business, here’s an idea.  Seed packets with your name and info on it are great this time of year.  There are business cards with seeds imbedded you can hand out to get people to remember your name.  Also available are postcards and bookmarks with seeds.  Another idea are mugs shaped like a claypot as well as flower pots that can be imprinted with your name, slogan or logo.

One way to get people to your booth at a tradeshow is to give something with perceived high value.  A garden apron filled with 3 garden tools would catch attention.

Affordable Football Schedules

Football season is here!  Time to get your name out and leverage the good old American past-time as well.  People are gearing up to head to fall pro and college games.  Visors, sunscreen, seat cushions, or megaphones are just a few ideas to get your name out. With your logo or slogan on them, they can take you with them to the games, even if you are not attending yourself.  One great item to hand out now is the Sports Schedule magnet.  Your favorite pro football team and the three local colleges in your area are printed on the front, the Monday night games are on the reverse.   You peel off the the top area and attach your business card.  These make great handouts for fall tradeshows, fall networking and marketing events, anywhere football lovers congregate.  At 49 cents for 100 or 200, they are affordable and handy.  At 300 or more, the price drops to 35 cents each.  Must be ordered in increments of 100.  They can be drop shipped to your door.  A full box makes a great donation when you are asked to give to your favorite fundraiser.  Easy to tuck individual schedules into a mailing in a business size envelope.  If you already mail to your clients or potential clients, why not give something that will stick around their home or office at least through the end of January.  If you prefer pro basketball or hockey, those are also available at similar pricing.

Tradeshow season is upon us

Do you wait until the last minute to order something to hand out and then scramble around putting little labels on something from the dollar or discount store?  A good handout at your tradeshow is your time to shine to your clients and prospective clients.  Given the economic times we are in, it’s more important than ever to think ahead and get your ducks in a row.  If you order your items in plenty of time, you have time to make sure you are giving items that reflect your business or service.  Nothing says quality like a sturdy, useful or fun item.  If your business sells widgits, you can give out something related to your business but perhaps a different version.  Stress balls come in 1000’s of shapes, something for almost any business or theme.  Do you have a new tagline for the new year or are you targeting a new market?  If so, you can use a phrase on an item to reflect that information.  Have you changed corporate colors or opened or closed locations?  That is time you will want to let your clients (new and potential) know your new information.

When people pass your booth, will they hurry by or will they stop, ponder, inquire.  An interesting promotional item can capture their attention and gives you time to ask questions, listen and capture their contact information.  Another way to get people to your booth is to send out a postcard they can bring to redeem for an item for stopping by your booth.  Those items can be a little more substancial or a set of something.  A little more expensive item related to your industry or area.  Recent ones that come to mind are a keytag/tapemeasure given by a construction company at an apartment association conference.  Repeat clients were given a more substantial item, newcomers were given less expensive versions.  Both increased inquiries and follow up business for the construction company.  Now they are looking at even more expensive promotional items as client thank you gifts for larger clients.

Either way, keeping your name or logo in their minds, one their desks or near their computer will keep your info handy the next time they need your business or service!
